One thing my family loves to do is snack. But I try my hardest to give them the healthiest and best of everything which is not always easy. One of our favorite snacks it soft pretzels but the store bought ones are never as good as the fresh ones. With that said I am super excited to tell you about our new snack machine it is a Nostalgia Electrics soft pretzel maker.
I have always been a big fan of soft pretzels and love finding different dips for them. My two favorite dips are cream cheese and beer cheese. There are several restaurants by use that serve soft pretzels and beer cheese for an appetizer and I love to get them any chance I can!! Now I won't have to wait to go to the restaurants I can just make my own at home.
The soft pretzel maker I received to review also came with a pretzel cutter for the dough and a manual/recipe book. While looking through the recipe book guess what I found...yep the recipe to make beer cheese dip and you bet your cookies I did! One thing I like about being able to make my own dip is I choose the beer that is going in it. I am not a fan of Guinness which is what most places put in there beer cheese dips.
The family and I are enjoying our soft pretzel maker and we are trying the different recipes in the book as well. One that we have been doing that is not in the book is sprinkling the pretzels with cinnamon and sugar after there done baking for a sweet treat and then dipping them in vanilla icing. The possibilities are endless on what you can do with this yummy treat.
If you would like to try making the Beer Cheese dip that I mentioned and is pictured above then here is the recipe:
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 (1oz) package dry ranch salad dressing mix
1 cup and 1 Tbsp shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup beer (I use light)
salt to taste
cayenne pepper to taste (optional)
In a bowl, mash together the cream cheese and ranch dressing mix until thoroughly combined.
Stir in the the cheddar cheese.
Mix the beer in 1 Tbsp at a time until you reach the desired consistency. (I like mine a little thicker)
Stir in the salt and cayenne pepper.
Set in the refrigerator until chilled about an hour.
