Homemade Bread Machine Wheat Rolls

 Homemade Bread Machine Wheat Rolls

This is a easy recipe for homemade wheat rolls that uses a bread machine to make the dough:
These wheat rolls are just as good as what you get at some restaurants! They are very easy to make, but do require rising and resting time so they do take some time to make.  I usually put the ingredients in the bread machine at lunch time and then we have fresh from the oven rolls with our dinner.

Wheat Roll Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 cups wheat flour
  • 3 tsp quick rise yeast (also known as instant yeast)
  • melted butter for brushing rolls with

What You Do:
  1. Add all the ingredients to your bread machine in the above order, and then choose the dough setting. (my dough setting takes 1.5 hours)
  2. When done remove the dough to a lightly floured surface and shape into a ball.
  3. Cut the ball in half, and then those pieces in half and continue to halve the dough until you have 16 pieces. (you may need to sprinkle more flour on your surface if the dough starts to stick)
  4. Shape your dough pieces into round balls and place them in a greased 9x13 baking dish. Leave a little room between the rolls like maybe a 1/2 inch to a inch.
  5. Brush rolls with the melted butter and cover with plastic wrap. Set them in a warm spot until doubled in size - roughly 40 minutes. (I heat my oven to around 200* and then turn my oven right OFF and place the baking dish in there with the door cracked for the rolls to rise)
  6. Once the rolls have doubled in size remove the plastic wrap and bake them for 12-15 minutes at 375*.
