Help Your Child Learn To Read

One skill that our children will always use in their life is the skill of reading. It seems like children are expected to know how to read when entering Kindergarten now. With Angel being 5 she will be entering Kindergarten in the fall so we are working on her skills at home to get her ready. I recently received several sets of Learn to Read with. Bob Books and Versatiles to review with Angel.

David C Cook Family Devotionals Revie

One thing that our family has been trying to do more of is family devotions. It is Mr Anderson and I's job to bring these children up to be good stewards for the Lord. It is not our churches job or their school's job to teach them everything they need to know.  Psalm 22:6 (KJV) says "Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it." I recently received a set of Family Devotionals by David C Cook to review with my family.

Keep The Kids Entertained during Quarantine

I know that right now many of us parents are trying to find ways to keep our kids entertained during the quarantine. I am sharing some wonderful ideas below with you that I have been coming across. I personally am trying to limit my kids time with electronics. I have been doing this by finding virtual field trips for them to take so they are still learning and not just playing games or watching mindless TV shows.

A Day At Kennywood

We recently took the kids over to Kennywood to spend the day. It is just a short drive from our home in Ohio over to this great park in PA. This was the boys second trip to Kennywood and Sweet Pea's first and everyone seemed to have their favorite rides. I love that Kennywood is geared toward family fun. Other theme parks have just a tiny kids area with only a few things for them to ride or play on. That is not the case at all in Kennywood. We spent the whole day in the kids area and only left it when we were getting ready to leave.

23 Kitchen Tips & Tricks

So I am always finding new little tricks to help me in the kitchen and I wanted to share some with you. I have a list of 23 Kitchen Tips for you below. If you try and any let me know how they work for you or if you have a tip feel free to leave it in a comment.

FRITTER AWAY(recipe)Got zucchini? Make fritters! The key to making them crispy is to first lightly salt the coarsely grated vegetable and set aside in a colander to drain for 15 minutes. Then wrap it up in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze firmly to expel as much liquid as possible.

KERNEL KEEPER: An easy way to prevent corn from going everywhere when you are cutting it off the cob is to use a Bundt pan. Place the cob in the center, standing it up on the protrusion, and cut downward so the kernels tumble directly into the pan.

JAVA JUICE: For the ultimate iced coffee, brew several cups of your favorite blend and sweeten to taste with condensed milk. Cool, then pour into ice cube trays (silicone are the easiest) and freeze overnight. Use these to chill your iced coffee and they will only enhance, never dilute.

TOMATO TIME: Prolong the life and enhance the flavor of ripe tomatoes by keeping them at room temperature rather than in the fridge. Always store them stem end down. This prevents air from entering - through the cut stem. If possible, eat them within 2 days.

SUMMER, CUBED: (recipePreserve fresh herbs, such as thyme, chives, and rosemary, by chopping them finely and packing them into an ice cube tray. Top up with olive oil, then cover with plastic wrap and freeze. The cubes dissolve easily into sauces and provide bright flavor all year long.

Myrtle Beach Safari: TIGERS Experience

While on our Thanksgiving trip to Myrtle Beach, my family got the great pleasure of going to the T.I.G.E.R.S. Experience at the Preservation Station. This was a memory maker that my children will never forget. Angel got to feed an adult tiger, Bubba got to bottle feed a tiger cub, a monkey tried to steal Pumpkins hat and also held hands with Peanut. Since two of my children are under the age of 6 we could not go to the Myrtle Beach Safari tour but we were able to go to the Preservation Station for the T.I.G.E.R.S. Experience they have available for all ages.

Family Thanksgiving in Myrtle Beach 2017

My family was given the wonderful opportunity to spend our 2017 Thanksgiving in Myrtle Beach at the Crown Reef Resort through Vacation Myrtle Beach. With us being such a large family it is hard to find hotels and resorts that can adequately fit us all in one room. I was very pleased with our Oceanfront Suite at the Crown Reef Resort. The room was very spacious as it had a fully equipped kitchen, 2 queen beds, a sleeper sofa, a Murphy/wall bed, in room-safe and more which made it big and perfect for my big family. Our room also had a balcony that over looked the ocean where we were able to sit and watch dolphins play one day. I liked that they had protective covers on the beds to protect against bed bugs. With so many people coming in and you never know what they bring with them I liked seeing the protective covers.

Spice Up Your Date Night

With having 5 children date nights do not come that often for us. But typically when we do get them it is the same thing, we go to dinner and a movie. I am not sure about you but I get tired of doing the same thing over and over. I like to spice things up and try new things other then just new restaurants every now and then.

Giusto Sapore

With the Holidays quickly approaching it has me starting to think about the get togethers and the food that will be served.  Anyone that knows me knows that I love to be a hostess and entertain people. My mother in law says that one of my "gifts" is hosting/entertaining people. When it comes to my parties rarely will you see store bought pre-made food on the tables. I love to cook and create delicious foods to share with my family and friends. This year Giusto Sapore will be helping me creating those delicious foods to be served.

I know a lot of people lately have been looking for ways to help treat ailments without needing prescription medicine. I know personally I am the type of person who hates taking medicine for anything. I think there are more natural (holistic) ways to take care of our bodies. There are ways to heal our bodies and minds without using prescription drugs. If you think back to the beginnings they used plants and herbs as medicine and had success. I know not every ailment can be treated without prescriptions so please consult a doctor before doing anything. You can work with your doctor or a holistic doctor  to make sure you are getting what you need.
